AUTHOR BIO
ZHAO Chuang and YANG Yang are two professionals who work together to create scientific art. Mr. ZHAO Chuang, a scientific artist, and Ms. YANG Yang, an author of scientific children's books, started working together when they jointly founded PNSO, an organization devoted to the research and creation of scientific art in Beijing on June 1st, 2010. A few months later, they launched Scientific Art Projects Plan: Stories on Earth (2010-2070). The plan uses scientific art to create a captivating, historically accurate narrative. These narratives are based on the latest sci¬entific research, focusing on the complex relationships between species, natural environments, communities, and cultures. The narratives consider the perspectives of human civilizations while exploring Earth's past, present, and future. The PNSO founders plan to spend 60 years to do research and create unique and engaging scientific art and literature for people around the world. They hope to share scientific knowledge through publications, exhibitions, and courses. PNSO's overarching goal is to serve research institutions and the general public, especially young people.
PRAISE
"A colorful album of marine monsters for dinosaur buffs." -Kirkus Reviews
"Many years ago, I was entranced by stunning artwork and sculptures that I kept seeing around China that captured prehistoric life in a way unmatched by others. Not long after, I was honored to meet the incredibly talented artist Zhao Chuang in person and discuss the importance of education in fostering the interest and passions of future paleontologists. With this book, the PNSO Encyclopedia for Children: The Secrets of Ancient Sea Monsters, Zhao Chuang and Yang Yang beautifully capture and introduce the vast array of magnificent marine life from the Early Triassic to the Late Cretaceous. With gorgeous graphics, clear timelines and engaging text, it's a wonderful reference for readers of all ages."-Tom Kapitany, Managing Director of the National Dinosaur Museum, Canberra, Australia
"Based on exquisite fossils revealing all aspects of their anatomy and rare evidence of their behavior, ZHAO's superb illustrations vividly depict these ancient beasts and the pristine environments in which they lived and died. As if touring a prehistoric aquarium, the colorful pages of this book will fascinate readers of all audiences, taking them back to a bygone world of ancient flippers, fangs and fins."-Dr. Luis M. Chiappe, Gretchen Augustyn Director, Dinosaur Institute at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

"Children are often fascinated with prehistoric worlds, filled with exciting beasts different from anything alive today. I cannot think of a more exciting place to ponder than ancient Mesozoic seas. These environments contained some of the largest, fiercest and most exciting animals to have ever lived on this plant. Beautifully illustrated and packed with exciting content about marine reptiles, this book will provide enjoyment for any dinosaur obsessed child."-Dr. Matthew R. McCurry, Curator of Palaeontology, The Australian Museum
