AUTHOR BIO
Spending years working hard and persisting, Michael Gorton has earned degrees in Physics, Engineering and Law. After working 12 years as an engineer manager in corporate America, he is now a serial entrepreneur who has founded eight companies. Amongst those are notables: Internet Global, Palo Duro Records and TelaDoc, now the world's largest telemedicine company. Michael has been a prolific writer, authoring technical articles on a wide range of topics.
Forefathers & Founding Fathers is Michael's 5th novel, at first intended just to give to friends and family, but while researching, Gorton realized this was an important and unknown story that needed to be told.
Michael is a runner who has completed 18 marathons, a black belt in Kenpo karate, and a mountain climber. He and his family are currently climbing the highest points of elevation in the fifty states, and have completed 38.
Michael is an 11th generation descendant of one of the founders of the Rhode Island colony: Samuel Gorton.
PRAISE
"Now in a revised second edition, Forefathers & Founding Fathers is a historical fiction novel that draws heavily upon extensive research to bring to life the quirks, foibles, deep human flaws, and brave heroism of the seventeenth-century patriots who fought for American independence. Fast-paced and thoroughly engaging, Forefathers & Founding Fathers keeps the reader's rapt attention to the very end. Highly recommended!"
-Midwest Book Review
"This book will challenge everything that history books have taught us about the 'founding years' in the American colonies. Young adult readers will make text-to-text and text-to-world connections as they journey four hundred years in history where horrific truths are revealed. Forefathers & Founding Fathers is an amazing historical account that defies everything we know about the beginning of America, including our Thanksgiving feast with the pilgrims. It leaves the reader wondering what else we are in the dark about."
-Marla Conn, founder, Readability, Inc.
"History is exciting, especially in the greatest country in the world, and now brought to life by a thinker par excellence, Michael Gorton. This story vibrates with wisdom and insights. I look forward to the movie!"
-Mark Victor Hansen, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul
"Brilliant! Intoxicating! I found myself absorbed in the relationships, the politics, and the struggles. Much more than a history lesson-it is a collection of leadership portraits that shaped our nation's destiny."
-General Rebecca Halstead (ret.), author and inspirational speaker
