Enslaved by his own father, a Georgia plantation owner, Sam More has known little but suffering all his life. He escapes only to embroil himself in the bloody, haunting battlefields of the Civil War, where he finds himself accused of a terrible crime.

On the run and with nothing to live for save the oath he made to a dying man—the very man he’s accused of killing—Sam finally finds shelter in the home of a widow and her shy son. There, however, he faces a choice. Can he betray the closest thing to family he’s ever had? Or can he seize this final chance at acceptance, even if it means giving up the thing he desires most: revenge.

Journey of the Unforgiven follows Sam through struggles both physical and spiritual as he searches for acceptance within a world that has never had a place for him. Wars must be fought. Grief must be endured. Before Sam can find peace, he must break free of the chains of his past and learn that true redemption can only come from within.

AUTHOR BIO

Thomas Yoke attributes his love of history to having been raised in southeastern Kansas, an area steeped in early American history. All his life, he's been exploring and researching the Civil War battlefields of the area. Life and raising a family, however, took him in a different direction. But he passed on his love of history to his children, especially his oldest daughter, a history teacher who sparked his interest in writing Journey of the Unforgiven. It wasn't until Tom retired and lost his wife that he sought comfort by combining two of his passions: history and writing. He is currently working on the sequel to Journey of the Unforgiven.
