About the Author

Alexandra Allred is an award-winning author who also made sports history as she was named the first to make and form the U.S. women's bobsled team and was named Athlete of the Year (1994) for her sport. Allred also made international news as she was pregnant when she made the team. For decades, both the United States and the International Olympic Committee have used Allred's training data as a safety guide for pregnant athletes.

Upon retirement, she played professional women's football at the request of Sports Illustrated and later established herself as an adventure writer for numerous national publications. She testified before the IOC at the London Games and lobbied on Capitol Hill for public health. She is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and continues to freelance, as well as partaking in public speaking on issues of empowerment and education.

Allred is a certified exercise therapist and adjunct professor for Special Populations and Chronic Conditions, teaching tomorrow's caregivers how to work with those who have been dismissed or overlooked, including those living with chronic illnesses/injuries.
