When author and publisher Dave Reisman learned that "cows can't jump", he couldn't resist creating a picture book to read to his young children. He leapt into the project, conducting research into animals' unique and varied activities. Then, in his quest to find an artist who could add color to his story, he connected with Jason A. Maas, his children's elementary school art teacher, who jumped at the chance to illustrate the book. Today, as a veteran of countless bedtime read-aloud sessions with his wife and three (now adult) kids, it warms Dave's heart to hear from families that Cows Can't Jump has become a treasured part of their "please read it again" read-aloud experiences.
