Brown Books Publishing Group is looking for a full-time editorial assistant. This individual will work closely with the publisher’s editorial director to maintain the quality of all texts created by and published through Brown Books. The editorial assistant will receive training in broad editorial tasks, such as developmental editing, and be expected to copy edit, line edit, proof, write copy, format, manage content, and fact check. Applicants must have a background in written communications and have a thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style. Experience in book publishing is desired, but not required. Those with proven editorial skills and experiences will receive preference. Professional demeanor and a willingness to negotiate content with others is a necessity. This position will provide extensive hands-on experience in all editorial matters, the chance to interact with authors in a variety of genres, and an opportunity to work with book manuscripts from inception to final publication.
