Founded in 1994 by award-winning author, columnist, and publisher Milli Brown, Brown Books Publishing Group is a full-service independent publisher committed to producing high quality, award-winning books of all genres for authors who choose to retain the rights to their intellectual property.

With years of publishing experience at her first publishing house Personal Profiles, Milli Brown formed Brown Books Publishing Group based on one central concept—building successful relationships with authors in order to develop Manhattan quality books for those who wish to retain the rights to their intellectual property and keep the profits from their books' sales.

When Milli Brown founded Brown Books, authors only had two options for publishing—vanity presses or the highly competitive Manhattan publishing world. And, even if an author was lucky enough to have had his or her book picked up by a traditional royalty publisher, odds were slim that the author would earn any significant profits. Brown Books Publishing Group ushered in a New Era in Publishing™, helping authors navigate the often complicated world of publishing and offering expert guidance in manuscript development, creative design, fulfillment, distribution, marketing and public relations. At Brown Books, authors gain the best of both worlds by taking advantage of over fifteen years of publishing expertise while retaining complete control over their projects.

Many authors who choose Brown Books were first represented by major houses like Simon and Schuster, Random House, Bloomberg, and John Wiley, before making the switch to relationship publishing.

Today, Brown Books publishes more than one hundred titles a year and has won numerous prestigious awards, including the Writer's Digest Grand Prize, the Hollywood Film Festival Opus Magnum Award, The Mom’s Choice, Canada’s Chocolate Lilly, London Book Festival, and the Independent Publisher's Award.
